Architecture is a visual art form. To study it requires the ability to view it and to experience that which occurs within it. Photographs of a range and variety of synagogue spaces are shown throughout the Photo Gallery. They illustrate creative solutions to challenges posed by specific needs, goals and visions that evolved through a collaborative partnership between the congregation and the architect. The congregations represented may vary in their approach to worship, music, movement and use of space and style, but each succeeded in creating synagogue space that is responsive to its mission; to create environments infused with Jewish ideals and values that engage the mind and nourish the soul. The photographs are portraits, rather than mirrors, that depict unique Jewish journeys.
