Building a new synagogue, purchasing a building or renovating an existing space is an inspiring, affirming, exciting and sometimes daunting process. The Ida and Howard Wilkoff Department of Synagogue Management has developed a series of resources to guide congregations through the myriad of decisions that must be made during an architectural project. The new resources combine information about organizational processes and building considerations with Jewish perspectives about sacred space and holy encounters.
The department strives to help congregations build, develop and maintain well-run, spiritually fulfilling congregations, in which the sacred informs the practical and the practical creates the sacred.
